Title – Libraries and Data-Quality
Abstract
Data quality is a crucial aspect of effective data management, enabling organizations to make informed decisions and gain valuable insights into their operations. High-quality data is accurate, complete, consistent, and relevant, ensuring that organizations can rely on their data to improve business processes and performance. However, maintaining data quality can be challenging, with organizations facing issues such as errors, inconsistencies, duplications, and outdated information. To address these issues, organizations must develop effective data management strategies and solutions, including training staff on data quality best practices. Library professionals play a critical role in ensuring data quality in libraries, information centres, and other organizations, utilizing their expertise in information management to identify and resolve data issues and develop data management policies and procedures. In the academic library, data quality is particularly essential, supporting research and scholarly communication. Therefore, academic libraries must prioritize data quality in their operations and support research data management practices.
This colloquium is all about what Data-Quality really is, what are the main issues that are faced while maintaining the quality of the data, what are the potential solutions and most importantly how library professionals can contribute to Data-Quality.
