Abstract:
Management Information Systems deal with the handling of information required by managers of an organization and its techniques can be applied to Library and Information Systems also. Decision support systems are a type of MIS and this plays an important role in the decision making process of libraries. It has many application areas in a Library and Information system, which is highlighted in this paper. This paper focuses the importance of planning in library and information centres, how decision support systems are applied in the planning process. It also discusses an automated decision support system for library planning.
