dc.description.abstract It is difficult to exaggerate the achievements of modern science and technology — but to tackle persisting poverty, disease and ecological imbalance in developing countries we also need to explore other routes of enquiry, and indigenous knowledge in particular. This paper deals the knowledge acquisition of local fisherman community and explores the science behind this local knowledge for linking the scientific knowledge and further research. The outcome of work currently going on at Cochin University of Science & Technology for developing a traditional knowledge digital Library (TKDL) is discussed here. en_US
